Flickr Fun

Well...I played around with Flickr. There are so many outstanding photos on the site. The library photos that I like the best are in the Library Artworks group and the Library of Congress group. I also liked the Libraries From Around the World group and the Carnegie Libraries group.

This is an image that I liked from a Flickr member named MustangSally1978. It is called Rainbow Falls. I like rainbows and waterfalls. This particular image reminds me of a family vacation in Pennsylvania (although I do not know where this photo was taken.) We had gone to Bushkill Falls and hiked the Red Trail (the longest one they had) because we didn't want to miss anything! After we spent the full day hiking the trail we were very sore and bought T-shirts that said "I survived the Red Trail at Bushkill Falls."
The rainbow reminds me of last week when I was walking through the grocery store parking lot and was almost run over by a pickup truck with oversized tires. The driver swerved to miss me, parked, jumped into the bed of the truck and started taking pictures! I was mad at first, but quickly got over it when I realized that he was taking pictures of a double rainbow that was in the sky. It was beautiful.

Lifelong Learning

I just checked online to see if my blog was really here!

I was supposed to post about the Seven and 1/2 habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners, but became so involved in choosing the template, that I went off track.

The easiest habit for me is Habit #1 Begin with the end in mind. I am definitely a goal oriented person. I am a list person and keep a list of things that I need to get done each day in order to achieve my goals. Although, I must admit that I have an easier time reaching professional goals than personal ones. Sometimes I get so caught up in the details, because I strive for perfection, that I do not reach all of the personal goals that I set out to achieve. I do reach my professional goals because in my professional life I accept NO EXCUSES.

The most difficult Habit for me is #7 1/2 - PLAY. I am a very serious person and forget to take the time to play. In fact when I am relaxing I am always thinking that I am wasting valuable time that could be used to accomplish something. I need to create some time to play. I guess I will need to figure out how to play as I do not have any hobbies that are not career related.

So...this is my list of goals in creating this blog:
1. To catch up with all of my colleagues on the 23 steps - I am only on Step 3, but Step 16 is now posted. No pressure....no pressure...this is supposed to be done at my own pace!
2. To learn about all of these new technologies and how I will be able to apply them.
3. To PLAY and use this blog to record and reflect that I am actually learning how to play. This will be a good opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone and try some new things, as I will need something interesting to blog about.

Blogging

If I didn't mess this up, then I officially have a blog! Now...I just have to learn what to do with it.
